An Aternos alternative with no queue and no start button
Aternos is free, and it is the reason a lot of people have a server at all. What wears thin is the routine: open the panel, press start, wait in the queue, click confirm, and do it again when it stops because the server was empty. On Wishblock the server starts itself when someone joins.
Minecraft: Java Edition. No ads. No card.
Side by side
| Wishblock Free | Aternos | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free, with a weekly usage limit | Free, paid for by ads |
| Starting it | Wakes when anyone joins | Started from the website, through a queue when it is busy |
| When it is empty | Sleeps, and still shows as online in the server list | Stops after a countdown |
| Plugins and mods | From Modrinth or CurseForge, Paper or Fabric | Chosen from a large list and installed |
| Something nobody has made | Described in words, built for you and checked before it goes on | Not offered |
| Bedrock | No | Yes |
Your friends do not need you online
On Aternos, a friend who wants to play while you are away needs access to the panel to start the server. Wishblock has no panel to start it from: the address is always in their server list, and joining wakes it. They wait in a lobby for the moment it takes, then are sent in.
Plugins and mods
Run Paper for plugins or Fabric for mods, on any version from 1.19, with what you want from Modrinth and CurseForge. The whole server is manageable by AI too: connect your AI assistant and ask it to install a mod or change a game rule.
And for what nobody has made yet, like "Make an /echest command" or "Add racecars and a racetrack", describe it in the iPhone app and a Paper plugin is written for it, compiled, and put on your server. Undo it if you don't like it. Here are twelve that people asked for.
When Aternos is the better pick
If you need Bedrock or crossplay, a big modpack, or play so much that a weekly limit would get in the way, Aternos is a better fit today. Wishblock is for a Java server you share with friends and want to make your own.
